Is this a re-encode of the original 1080p AMZN WEB-DL source?

this is an encode, not a re-encode.

source is

Silicon.Valley.S05E01.Grow.Fast.or.Die.Slow.1080p.REPACK.AMZN.WEB-DL.DDP5.1.H.264-NTb.mkv (1.76 GBs)

Well I mean technically it is a re-encode. The Amazon WEB-DL is already an encode from Amazon. RZeroX has then taken that and encoded it, making it an encode of an encode, or a re-encode.

no its not, web-dl means directly from the amazon streams and put in a mkv container.

Of course a WEB-DL is lossless from Amazon. But how do you think the Amzon stream got there in the first place? Amazon encoded it using x264 from the masters they were provided from HBO. Ergo it is an encode already and if you are to take that WEB-DL and encode it in x265 you are re-encoding that x264 Amazon WEB-DL in x265.

Any WEB-DL that gets encoded by someone is a re-encode, just the same as taking someone else's 10gb Bluray rip and encoding it again.
