Guys, I'm freaking out. Whenever I think of a movie, within 3 days, it appears on the frontpage of this sub. Even obscure old movies. I'm confused. I think I have a super power, but I can't think of any possible uses for it.
have a good week!
I've noticed that too, except in my case they show up after I spend like, an hour trying to find them on some shady tracker then completely download them.

Can yify uploads be labeled as such? Makes them easier to identify quickly while searching/scrolling

I've been using youtube-dl to download bunch of anime series from crunchyroll using the 2 week trial. If I were to label them, would I call them WEB-DL or WEBRip?

How do you guys feel about having a Rotten Tomatoes score embedded in the description of the movie? I use that a lot to determine if something is worth my time watching.

can someone upload the new episode of silicon valley coming out tonight?
Two quick questions for you guys.
What player do you use for x264 or x265 files? I had previously been using VLC for most everything but last night was watching something and occasionally the video would freeze but audio would continue. Is this a VLC problem or some sort of setting I've got wrong?
Second, wondering about some of the games here. If a game is cracked and whatnot, will I be able to put it in my steam library, or is it best to keep separate?

PotPlayer is <3
[-] steelbeamsdankmemes | 3 points
Try MPC-HC (a good one IMO), though I haven't tried what the others are suggesting.
IDK what the current state is, but I know for a while BE was the only really actively developed of the MPCs.
[-] bigtittygothbf | 1 points
MPV is the one I've had the most success wtih when playing x265 and even x264 when bitrate was too high.
As for games, even if you tried, you wouldn't be able to add them in your steam library.
Gotcha! Would that (bitrate too high) explain freezing video but audio working fine? (for context, was watching a bluray rip of Iron Man on VLC, two hour movie and video stopped twice but audio kept running)
[-] bigtittygothbf | 3 points
I don't what's up with that. I've been having similar issues as well even with smaller files. VLC has been falling short compared to other players like mpv and potplayer. Even on android it gets outclassed by mx player. I would completely drop it but I use it as a subtitle synchronizing tool and I haven't found a similar player with that feature as advanced as VLC.

Soda Player seems to be working for me, specially for x265 and 4k videos, I'm on OSX but they also have it for Win OS.

For 1 you wouldn't happen to have a lot of stuff going on your computer at once? I had a game open and a lot of downloads and the video player would do exactly what you are describing

Why you dont use the megasync desktop app?
[-] doot_doot_doot_doo | 2 points
I use JD2 as well. Only drop overr to megasync when the file size is > 5GB as I tend to have problems in JD2 there. Otherwise, 3-4 files at once is great.
Alternatively I could just spin up a VM and run multiple instances of megasync as well, but JD2 is typically simpler.
Does anyone know how to download form zippyshare multiple files using internet download manager?

I have a full tb of just qxr/utr releases. pretty proud of it. can't brag to anyone I know. so posting here. :) my first baby step data hoarding mile stone.
Okay, two more questions for y'all.
First off, am I being throttled? I've been using MegaSync to download a bunch of stuff. I've had my VPN running the whole time. Earlier this week it was downloading around 10mbps. Then suddenly yesterday my DL speed in Megasync dropped to 900k-1mbps. When I run speedtest or whatnot it puts me at 60mbps down. Any ideas/solutions?
Second, a bit of a noob question for you...I'm not sure how to open these split archive downloads (where you download something and it's .002, .003, .004, .005 files, etc). I have 7zip but I don't know exactly how to use it to piece them all into something usable. If anyone could give me a quick rundown that'd be awesome.
First if you are being throttled you can talk to your isp, if your using a good VPN that isn't free with a decent encryption then they shouldn't. encryption and port selection is really the only way. "Stealth" connections use the http ports 1080 i think and choosing them is a matter of choice really. if you use some free one i'm not sure how you could get around this. ISP should not throttle you unless they have reason to believe your doing something you shouldn't, other times it could be bandwidth 50GB+ in 4 hours.
second, open the 7zip UI and highlight parts 1-whatever so .01-.05 then right click>7zip> extract here. [ note: you need all the correct parts that are not corrupted] the upside to this method is that a takedown is unlikely and are easier to download without corrupting the files as they "are in parts"; the downside is if even one part is missing the whole file is ruined and is generally easy to misplace. i personally think this is terrible and don't like seeing a messy PC not to mention it takes one file removal to destroy all the progress.
Hi! Can I ask what you think of this tool that I have been using compared to the tools prescribed here? Would they happen to be more resistant to cases of corruption (which I get for now with this shaky internet and VPN)? What downloader can you suggest for stability and for avoiding download corruption?
i'm not comfortable installing something i don't know but Megadownloader has always seemed a reliable way to do the job. the 1.7 release grants us the ability to use proxies and manipulate ports designate download destinations and limit data usage among other things. i personally haven't used anything else but i did tinker with it for awhile to get best results.

Does anyone know what happens to files in Mega storage that is above the Free Quota after an Achievement expires. Will my data be deleted?
[-] starbuck93 | 1 points
I'm pretty sure they just block new uploads and probably bug you that you're over your limit
[-] CmonWeAllFart | 1 points
That makes sense. I just realized that usually saturate my 50gB before the 35gB bonus expires. But with this current account I took my sweet time populating it. Files seem to be accessible from all my other accounts.
Just in case this place goes under...
In your opinion, what are some of the best things here that are still hosted? Might as well stock up.

If (or seemingly when based on recent event) reddit admins shut this sub down are there some sort of official plans for something offsite? Perhaps another site devoted to mega uploads?

r megaporn was hit with an impending ban so they are moving to a separate website. A bunch of megapacks were already taken down and I havent been able to find a definitive answer of if or when it will be shut down. There was mention of here getting hit with a few copyright infringements but it was a lot worse over there with a bunch of main content no longer available.

There hasn't been one so far. MP isn't allowing any new content to be posted there so providing they don't receive any more takedown requests for old content it could stay open indefinitely or shut down as soon as the mods finish backing up all the old posts.
MP had 36 takedown requests over a 3 month period with 11,000 subscribers. Megalinks has had 15 (maybe more) in the last 8 months with nearly 100,000. Thankfully our copyright agents seem happy just to submit requests directly to Mega instead of Reddit.
