In 1306, the Knights Templar are winding down their run as one of the most powerful organizations in the Christian world. Acre, the Templars' last stronghold, has fallen and years later a rumor is heard that the lost Grail is still in that area. The Templars, led by the courageous, headstrong, but noble Templar Knight Landry have shifted their attention to regaining a foothold in the Holy Land. They take their battle back to the Holy Land and their battles become the Crusades. The Templars are now losing allies and gaining new and powerful enemies, including the King of France. The legendary, wealthy and secretive military order of warrior monks are entrusted with protecting the Holy Grail and any secrets that are capable of destroying the Church.

The first episode was pretty amazing, opening with the 1291 Siege of Acre, which is spectacular, but it's all downhill from there. Instead of making a drama about the last days of the Crusader States and the final fall of the Levant to Islam, they make a silly sex and scandal show set entirely in Paris based around made up nonsense, completely pissing away any momentum or meaning behind the show. They could have had a real winner, but instead they pandered to the Game of Thrones void. Extremely dissapointing.

Well now I know to avoid this. Thanks!
"Instead of making a drama... they make a silly sex and scandal show".
Sadly, this is something that can be said about an increasing number of shows over the past few years :(

I'm so sick of everyone trying to find the "next GoT". I just wish people would stop looking for a while, it's making a lot of shit television.
Looking at you, Britannia.
"Looking at you, Britannia."
Curse you for reminding me of that one. I sat through 3 episodes of that garbage before actually being sick (I was ill at the time anyway, but not to the point of vomiting until I started watching it), and then giving myself a damn good bollocking for not dumping it after one episode.
Which I would have done normally, but didn't as I was too ill and too low on energy to find something else. But lesson learnt, and note to self to never keep watching obvious garbage even upon pain of death.

It was such fucking horseshit.
They made Caesar out to be a coward, which is patently false.
There's only one actual historical character in the entire thing.
They were so clearly desperately ticking off all of the GoT key elements. Full-frontal nudity, sex and scandal everywhere, everyone betrays everyone, dramatic execution of a father figure, sudden murder of major character, torture, a charismatic villain that you love, etc.
The writing was excessively lazy, and after nine fucking episodes, it didn't even feel like anything had happened. Honestly, I don't think anyone is watching it, and I pray that its failure is another nail in the sword and shield genre for at least 5 years. I am so happy with Altered Carbon and Star Trek for bringing back big budget TV sci-fi, this has been the best year for it since Battlestar Galactica was running.

I have only seen the first episode, and that was pretty good - plan on binge watching the rest shortly. In glancing over the season discussion over at /r/Knightfalltv (avoiding as much spoilers as I can), people are saying the first half was okay but that it got better in the second half.

How many more movies and TV shows can use the pun knight/night?

If they keep ripping off Batman, it could go forever.
