I watched one episode and compared it to the upscale and imo the upscale is better, the better thing about this version is that the first 4 episodes font have that double line effect.

Why on Earth would I want to convert lossy files to an even more lossy files that isn't from the original source. It makes no sense why I would want something with less quality that wasn't properly ripped from the original source if I'm welcoming the extra space that will be required for x264.

Also, if the rumors of a Blu-ray release is true then I'm willing to wait.

My WD media player model doesn't support x265. I would upgrade to newer ones with x265 support but doing so I would feel like I would have to redownload my entire media library in x265 format. It would take me weeks to retrieve everything again and with the little time I get free from work I would rather spend it doing something more productive. To me right now it makes no sense to redownload something I already have since what I already have simply just works. Maybe in a few years when x265 is the more common and available then I'll upgrade but for now I'm good.

Going to why I won't convert x265 to x264 is to simply put it I don't have the time or the time to learn how to successfully use the software to convert it and I don't want to convert something that isn't the original source because of the risk of both video and audio quality loss. When x265 started popping up on this sub people where complaining about it being ripped from x264 instead of from the source files because there was a noticeable difference in quality from whether it was properly ripped and wasn't. It's the same thing with converting x265 to x264. This series is one of my personal favorites and I wouldn't want something worse than what could be had. End of discussion.

definitely an upscale, there hasn't been and probably will never be an "official" ATLA hd release. The best quality we'll probably ever get for this show is the ATLA 1080p remaster

If you go to Amazon and search for ATLA and look at the video listings, you'll see that every video is in HD. It's definitely possible that both Best Buy and Amazon leaked this news early. We just got very lucky with encoders noticing the update.

I've seen the amazon hd versions and while it's better than the dvds, it is just a poor upscale. If you think that the bluray will be better quality than this you'll probably be disappointed, I really hope i'm wrong though and Nickelodeon actually does a proper hd release.

You're probably right, any potential Blu-Ray release will probably be identical to this release. But at least compared to the SD upscaled to 720p files I've been storing for some years, this is a much crisper, more detailed release. Still not as clean as cartoons made for the HD era, like Legend of Korra, but it's a significant step above, I think. I would encourage any fan to download this release.

Episode 4 has no sound starting at 6:14 I re-downloaded it and the problem still persists. Hopefully this isn’t a problem with more episodes. :(
