Anybody else find downloading and sorting shows relaxing or therapeutic? Downloading a whole season of something, sorting, renaming with FileBot, adding to Plex... all very calming. Going through my library creates the same feeling
Yes. I know exactly how you feel. (I think) =)
Though for me it's a different process -- I find it soothing to tweak and refine my assorted shell scripts run out of cron, which then download all the papers I've queued for the day from sci-hub, then get the metadata, update the central database as well as filesystem, then another set of scripts looks at my megadl queue (i keep a queue because I'm always hitting the bandwidth limit without it, the queue causes my downloads to resume once the limit is lifted)
But yeah, I think I know the feeling. I always have a calm but smug demeanor after I've made some slight tweak to the organizational scripts or when I occasionally log in to watch them do their holy work. ;-)
I also get the same feeling whenever I finish acquiring "the complete works of $FOO". There's something singularly reassuring about knowing "well now I have all of it, in case I ever need any of it."
There's something wrong with us.

Oh man in December I downloaded like 30 gigs of ebooks, it was such a great feeling to just see all these complete works from publishers or authors. I'm not quite as far as you are script-wise, I still do most downloading (from this sub at least) by hand, but picking and choosing what I want is part of the therapeutic thing for me. Looking at PlexPY and seeing the numbers for everything I've downloaded and knowing I chose each item by hand is immensely satisfying to me
But I guess on the other hand I tend to accumulate more music than I'll ever have time to listen to, and also I really like getting large useful scientific datasets. always for projects that i'll likely never finish.
And I still do the selection of stuff myself, I don't autoget everything i can (I'd run out of disk...). I just have scripts to automate the mechanical, the menial parts, like remembering to restart a mega download once enough time has passed, or renaming a PDF so that the filename matches the title of the paper. But the picking and choosing I have to do myself. After all, who else would be as qualified? ;-)

I'm a history major, and complete packs of Routledge, Cambridge, and Oxford University press made up about 20 of those gigabytes! It's basically like having my own massive reference library! Ah yeah I see what you mean, I probably need to figure out how to do that with TV shows or movies. I guess Couch Potato or Sonarr would be good places to start
[-] Sunny_Cakes | 1 points
I also have an assortment of batch files, but lately I've become annoyed with windows cmd. Buggy as all heck.
HECK
You need to taste the power of ~~the dark side~~ debian linux. ;-) Once you switch, the growing reality that random crashes, inexplicable slowdowns, those are things that happen to other people... is... addictive. It's certainly a lifestyle choice that requires commitment but at this point I can't believe I used to do windows domain admin 15 years ago...
[sorry, just teasin' ya]
[-] Sunny_Cakes | 1 points
I think I'll just switch over to using python scripts to manage my files. Windows batch ain't working out for me

Since it looks like reddit is now automatically removing or forcing the mods to remove submissions, such as bl_ack Pan.ther, are there any other subreddits that talk about new releases or ones that are private?
[-] lurkbender | 5 points
I just check here for new movie releases. Not much of a difference since a lot of content comes from there. They have zippyshare links for everything.
[-] mininestime | 3 points
Link saved, thanks. Yea i tend to use twodll but even they didnt have BP as fast as it was on here before it was quickly deleted.
[-] lurkbender | 4 points
Has this subreddit opted out of /r/all?
[-] igotsomegreypoupon | 7 points
Yes, according to indigo6alpha.

Is anyone having issues with JDownloader showing up as 'bandwidth exceeded' even with a paid Lite account and downloading from my own account?
I'm having to resort to using MegaSync for the time being.
[-] the_oskie_woskie | 1 points
Yup happening to me too. There was an update but it didn't help?

How good are Tigole encodes?
[-] ctc_upload | 3 points
Are ~40 Mbps Amazon/Hulu webrips the best source for most (western) cartoons nowadays? Thinking of doing some 10-bit x265 encodes. Also, what CRF is the best for them?
[-] TRUMP2016BUILDWALL | 2 points
If it's not available on Blu Ray then amzn rips are your best bet
[-] Kindness_Wins_All | 3 points
What is your favorite book from the forgotten realms books ?
Does anyone else have this issue when downloading many files: every 10th or so file downloads at 1Mbps. I normally get around 22Mbps
[-] [deleted] | 1 points
[-] PM-me-girl-nudes | 1 points
Happening to me as well. Not on the 10th file but right on the very first one i try to download. Can't get more than 1mbps of dl speed. Any fixes for this?
[-] ginjaninja3223 | 1 points
That happens to me constantly! Every 10th file goes to 1Mbps, absolutely no idea how to fix it
Hi everyone! Someone replied to my post saying that Read Rules. I don't know much about reddit. Could anyone tell me which rules I'm suppose to read? Reddit rules or there are some other rules?
[-] deathuntor | 2 points

[-] igotsomegreypoupon | 3 points
Yes, the files stay in your second account.
[-] Sunny_Cakes | 4 points
unless the originals, or really any copy, gets pinged for DMCA takedown, then all copies will be removed.
How hard is it to find high quality torrents for movies currently or recently in theaters?
[-] Sunny_Cakes | 8 points
hard
[-] King--Noctis | 2 points
impossible usually.
Are you sure? then what's the point of movie torrents?
[-] King--Noctis | 2 points
That's an idiotic question.
Did mega remove the 5GB limit or something? I'm at 13GB out of 33 for this movie right now and it's just going and going and going.
edit: 19 now
[-] NatMcMahan | 1 points
I literally just got the transfer quota exceeded message from Megasync after being able to download without a limit for the last month or so. It was good while it lasted.
edit: I cleared my transfer queue and restarted Megasync, and it's letting me download movies without a limit again.
[-] the_oskie_woskie | 1 points
I cleared my transfer queue
What does this mean and how to do this? Thanks
[-] NatMcMahan | 1 points
The transfer queue is just the list of things that are waiting to download in Megasync. Just click 'Cancel All' to clear it.

Ay what are the best original Hulu tv shows. Idk how they compare to the caliber of Netflix og shows
[-] countygeneral | 3 points
The most critically acclaimed have been 11.22.63 and The Handmaid's Tale. Subjectively speaking, The Awesomes is pretty awesome.
[-] simplefilmreviews | 3 points
Netflix has more quantity of top quality than Hulu. (Black Mirror (they bought streaming rights I think), Master of None, OITNB, Mindhunter, Stranger Things, House of Cards, Peaky Blinders)

What is the most reliable way to upload to mega? I have used MegaUploader in the past but recently i seem to be having more and more issues with it.
[-] igotsomegreypoupon | 2 points
MegaSync or megatools if you don't mind the command line
[-] Sunny_Cakes | 1 points
is megatools better than megaCMD?
[-] igotsomegreypoupon | 1 points
I don't know how they compare - MegaSync is my choice is software.

[-] Cyromaniap | 2 points
MegaSync is definitely more reliable then the old one I was using. Is here anyway to do multiple uploads at once? I looked but didn’t see anything.
[-] the_oskie_woskie | 1 points
Why are all of my downloads using JDownloader/Megadownloader corrupted? I can download anything without those programs just fine. I found a forum post from 2009 suggesting firewall settings...

How do I play .mkv videos on my Android phone?
Hi everyone my Android can't play .mkv videos nor can and vlc freezes on an image but continues to play the sound.
Mx player is jittery.
I can convert them to mp4 but for a movie it ends up being 14.2GB.
[-] TRUMP2016BUILDWALL | 2 points
It depends on your phone but vlc should be fine. You shouldn't have to convert it, just mux it to mp4. It will actually be smaller in almost all cases since you can only have one video/audio track and no subtitles
[-] MasterCoder4000 | 1 points
If you mean changing the extension .mp4 that doesn't work.
[-] TRUMP2016BUILDWALL | 2 points
You need to mux it
[-] MasterCoder4000 | 2 points
Forgive my noob question but what does mux mean
[-] TRUMP2016BUILDWALL | 1 points
Mkv is just a container. It contains mp4 video tracks, audio tracks, and subtitle tracks. Using programs like mkvtoolnixgui you can mux the file to just a mp4 file with audio
[-] MasterCoder4000 | 1 points
Will it work on an unrooted Android?
[-] TRUMP2016BUILDWALL | 4 points
Your issue is probably x265 not being supported on your phone
[-] Boilermaker1025 | 1 points
Have there been any 4k releases of The Man in the High Castle or 11.22.63? I've seen that they're available but understandably pretty heavily protected. Has anyone managed to grab either yet?
Also has anyone been able to download and crack iTunes 4K movies yet?
[-] igotsomegreypoupon | 1 points
There are 4K WEBRips of MITHC but nothing of 11.22.63.
[-] Boilermaker1025 | 1 points
Sweet, thanks for the confirmation. Do you happen to have a link to MITHC 4K? I can't seem to find any
[-] igotsomegreypoupon | 1 points
RARBG has them: http://rarbg.to/torrents.php?search=man+high+castle+2160p
low seeder count so not sure about the speeds.
[-] Boilermaker1025 | 1 points
Ah that's a bummer. I'll give it a shot though. Thanks for the help!

my 1st post on this particular thread. not sure about these two mega alternatives, but https://www.quiver.net/ gives 100gb free storage plus they have an Android app. https://www.transip.nl/stack this one gives you 1000 gb free storage but it's in Dutch. have not tried both coz slow internet and only have a smartphone, but your thoughts would be great.
[-] igotsomegreypoupon | 3 points
Quiver looks like a paid productivity suite, TransIP was brought up before but it's only open to netherlands/belgium users
I agree that I would love some alternative to mega. Every so often, about twice a year, I try to run the numbers on if it's financially feasible for me or us to roll our own, using cloud storage and off shore VPS, but the bandwidth costs always end up being the killer.
Backblaze B2 is a dream to work with, and cheaper than anything else I've seen, yet they charge 2cents/GB on network egress.
My most recent half baked idea was maybe people would be willing to run some form of crypto miner while downloading, and the rates could be calculated so that the whole system is self sustaining... But I have no idea how willing people would be to run a background miner just to download large files.

Hello all, I'm having a problem with megadownloader. It no longer download the files into their respective folders, it just put them into one folder so I often have to manually sort the files, any one else having this problem and any solutions?
anyone know a workaround to the "unfortunantly chrome has an insufficient buffer to decrypt data in the browser, please install the mega desktop app to download large files" problem?
i really hate downloading every random app/program that everyone says i need to download to enhance my experience cause ive found that aproximately 99 times out of 100 enhance my experience just means slow down my machine and give me more adds
