In 1953, the war began: Martian invaders, bent on the conquest of Earth, destroy human civilization and leave death and panic in their wake. If not for our planets tiniest bacteria, they would have wiped human existence from the Earth. Captured and quarantined, the aliens threats are all but forgotten; their insidious plans lay dormant for decades. But now, freed from captivity, revived and resuscitated, they vow not to repeat their mistakes. And if not for a small band of human resistance fighters, they may yet get the chance to finish what they started. The fate of Earth may very well rest in the hands of a small yet courageous band: astrophysicist Harrison Blackwood, paraplegic computer wizard Norton Drake, microbiologist Suzanne McCullough and military man Paul Ironhorse.

This looks fun! I searched it and these videos gave a nice little preview of the violence and the basic vibe.

Factoid: Both the WAR OF THE WORLDS TV series and the FREDDY KRUEGER TV series were two of the first three TV shows to include Graphic Violence on Network Television during the 1980's.

I think this is the first time I've seen this show since it first aired. It was such a strange show and then they went and blew it up for season 2.
It co-stars Richard Chaves who also co-starred in Predator. Here's an interview with him during filming of the second season premier.
