This is an amazing and dark comedy on death penalty in the Franco years and probably one of the best Spanish films of all time. A man gets to inherit the job of executioner (by Garrote vil) from his father in law, and accepts to family pressure.

Franco's censors didn't see past the comedy to the brutal criticism of the practice that the movie is.
