i streamed this last night on my TV through the app and damn the quality was bad. dark scenes with any movement at all were artifacting like crazy. does netflix do blu-ray releases at all? from some cursory searches it seems not. for people that want the best quality it really sucks that all in-house netflix films/shows will never be available in anything higher quality than a shitty stream...

When I was a kid (not to long ago) it took ~1h:30m to download a song. By the time I was in high school I was able to download an album in 5 minutes. Now that I'm grown up I can watch near perfect highdef immediately on my TV, while streaming Youtube videos. I don't even have a good internet connection.

They've released S01&02 of Daredevil, S01 of Jessica Jones and S01 of Luke Cage on Blu-ray. I assume Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher will soon follow. They've also released Orange is the New Black on Blu-ray too. So they do release some stuff on physical media.

I know grain is good but for some reason (guess I'm used to it) I enjoy x264 encodes than x265 though Im usually watching x265 for the size difference these days
I have seen very few x265 encodes that had realistic bitrates, even the better ones like MZABI are still just not quite good enough for big TVs with controlled lighting. Probably why you prefer x264 as there are a lot more high bitrate encodes out there that are 264 than 265.
