So it's a 4k movie with suspiciously small size and horrible bitrate. What's the point? I'd rather have a 1080p file with sufficient bitrate than this.

Yeah I think this would be great as 1080p HDR but as 2160p it is just bitrate starved. If you're looking for 4K picture quality but at a palatable file size stick to rips that use CRF17 like TERMiNAL, IAMABLE, HQMUX etc with lossless audio these average out to 20GB but range all the way from 10GB to 30GB. (HQMUX usually does lossy 640kb/s DD audio if you don't care about Atmos or care about lossless audio saving you a few gigabytes)

Hi! I'm looking for 4k at palatable sizes like you mentioned and I don't have any kind of audio setup, so I don't really care about that, only picture quality. Could you explain to me what CRF17 means? Are TERMiNAL, IAMABLE, HQMUX uploaders? where could I find their rips?

Yeah those are uploaders. They are on torrent sites like rarbg and other direct download sites, don't know of any mega sites though. Typically you'll want to search for "2160p x265" as a good starting point, but just watch out for really low bitrate ones like this.

CRF is an encoding technique that is basically a quality target. The lower the value the higher the quality. Since it's a quality target and not a bitrate target file sizes can be a little unpredictable as somethings compress better than others. 17 in my eyes is near visually lossless in motion, I've had my eyes 3ft from my 65" and I struggle to see the difference. Anything lower than CRF15 would be a pretty crazy and a waste of space, Amazon uses CRF18 for their stuff and it is probably the best streaming picture quality out there. Basically CRF17 is awesome quality, anything above 20 you are going to really start noticing a degradation in quality. I suggest reading up on it more if you'd like to understand it better.

Could you recommend a hard drive to play these off of? I imagine I just plug it right into my 4k tv like where the usb port is but I'm looking for a fast drive that won't studder and work

I like 8TB Western Digital drives. I usually use Plex from my computer to an Nvidia Shield to play them. Can't say how well plugging it right into a TV will work, that's a big "it depends" on the TV and most will likely choke on lossless audio.

Yes I do. However the original file is 50GB + so this contains less than 1/10 of the data. H265 is more efficient than many other video compression standards but it can't do miracles. Throwing away 9/10 of data means poor bit rate and lots of lost details.

The 50GB is also a REMUX which is just a 1:1 of the bluray.
