I only watched season 1 of breaking bad. Is it a requirement to enjoy better call saul?

The episodes were too long. I like bingewatching series and one can't really do that when each episode is an hour long -- it's too exhausting. Are they an hour long here as well?

Generally yeah between 42min and 60min. You should definitely pick up on season 2. That is just when BrBa gets going.

Yes, at some episodes, or scenes.

Which ones? Just curious, I've seen both shows but I don't remember that. Better Call Saul felt more like a standalone story.

Lol are you serious?

yes... Better Call Saul takes place before Breaking Bad, so I'm not sure why BB would be required viewing before BCS.

Some bits take place afterwards.

I am currently rewatching breaking bad after better call saul. To me one can start with soul and just enjoy it. Also, if you watch breaking bad after bcs you'll have a lot of useful infos about past, so you can better understand what's happening.

Isn't that just him working at the Cinnabon though? I don't think it mentioned the events of BB much

I would recommend you watch breaking bad first because its the best, and when it ends there will be an empty void you wouldn't want it to finish... Then you can watch saul, it makes you feel better.

No, not at all. I hate Breaking Bad. I think it's easily the most inexplicably overrated thing humans have ever created. It's baffling to me; the militant fanboyism and their desperate indoctrination into the show's bullshit nihilistic world.

That said, I loved "Better Call Saul" all on its own. Saul is a more enjoyable character in a lighter toned story that's more like Elmore Leonard than Chuck Palahniuk. Breaking Bad is so devoid of any joy or humor or recognizable humanity. It's about gross people doing gross things in their underwear before they get shot. And they rationalize the whole thing with "well, God can take a teacher away from his family with cancer so fuck the rest of society, I guess." Saul is more wry and outright fun, with an obvious smirk over all the violence and nihilism and rationalizations for selfish wickedness.

I think most people on Reddit are just Walter White trying to justify himself.

In fact, it's kind of the point - he becomes more and more immoral and at some point it becomes difficult for the audience to continue sympathizing with him. I like it when characters change that much and I think it was a well made show.

Yeah, in season 5 I hated him

Agree... Bb is dark whereas bcs light, there is an audience for both

maybe this is just not my show but I thought brba had much better pacing. better call Saul feels so much slower and has much less action. it's not all bad of course but I personally preferred brba.

I think it’s just as good as B.B. but it is painfully slow but that’s just how the show rolls . It’s not an action show and I think the pacing is right for the show . It’s all great stuff but just a different view . The Jimmy story isn’t as dramatic as Walters but it’s got some gut punches
