The first episode was awesome. The 1291 Siege of Acre is the opening scene, and it's one of the most impressive things I've seen on TV. However, this most recent episode was kinda shit. It seems like it's determined to remain a small-scale France-based tale, rather than chronicling the Mamluk conquest of the Levant, and the decline and death of the Crusader States, which is an infinitely cooler plot. It also seems a bit awkward and cheesy at times. I'm still prepared to watch more because we've not seen much so far, but this week's episode wasn't great.

No problem! It's one of those shows where a really want to live it because it's a unique topic, and as a student of history, I'm so happy History Channel is going all-out this year. However, while Vikings has just gone in an impossibly brilliant direction by introducing Euphemius and the Byzantine Empire, it seems like they might swing and miss with Knightfall purely because it doesn't seem to play to its considerable strengths.
