[MUSIC] Miles Davis - The Complete Jack Johnson Sessions (2003, CD) (Jazz, Rock, Fusion) [FLAC, 2.18GB] | Megalinks MegaDB
[MUSIC] Miles Davis - The Complete Jack Johnson Sessions (2003, CD) (Jazz, Rock, Fusion) [FLAC, 2.18GB]
Box set of Miles Davis and his band's recording sessions between Nov 1969 and June 1970. Tracks from these sessions were spliced and mixed together to form the 1971 album A Tribute to Jack Johnson and studio portions of 1970's Live-Evil.
This box set is probably the only release that truly can be called complete sessions, as there are multiple takes included of several songs. I prefer to listen to only one or two tracks from each disc, and then later come back and listen to different takes - it can be overwhelming and/or repetitive to listen to these tracks a whole disc at a time (excluding the final disc, which contains the two tracks of the original Jack Johnson album). That said, it is certainly not an issue of
quality | Megalinks MegaDB
quality - all of the music included here is top notch. Rather, the
quantity | Megalinks MegaDB
quantity of it is excessive if listened to straight through, since some tracks have multiple takes in a row for 40 minutes or more. I hope that I don't dissuade anyone from enjoying this music, I just wanted to share some perspective. There are some very interesting arrangements, as well as great musicians that are showcased on few other albums (notably Sonny Sharrock's guitar interplay alongside the more well known John McLaughlin).

You're welcome! These electric Miles Davis albums are some of my favorite music ever recorded. I've been listening to them for over ten years and there is still new stuff to hear and a ton to digest.
