Three-disc set of the Grateful Dead's concert at The Mosque in Richmond, VA on May 25, 1977. During the spring of '77 the Dead were at a peak, and many Deadheads consider this tour in particular to be a high point for the band. This is an excellent place to start listening for those who are uninitiated and curious. Some of my all time favorite GD tunes appear in this concert, especially in the second set.

Tracklist:

[First Set]

Disc 1

[Second Set]

Disc 2

Disc 3

">" denotes songs leading in to the next with no break

Who is Dave and why does he get to choose?

The archive series is named after David Lemieux, who currently oversees the Grateful Dead's tape archive.

Wow, 25 volumes. Is there a venue that the Dead are most closely associated with? One of the SF venues, or Berkeley maybe? I've only listened to their American Beauty album, never really checked out their live stuff which is what they're apparently known for.

Probably the Fillmore West in San Francisco, they played there a lot during their early years. The album I previously uploaded, Live/Dead, was recorded there. They also played quite a bit at the Winterland until its closing (they were the very last act to perform there on NYE '78). Both venues were owned and operated for a time by concert promoter Bill Graham, who was a big fan of the Dead. San Francisco was their hometown and definitely the city they're most closely associated with.

Ohh, SF's Civic Auditorium is named after Bill Graham. Thanks for the interesting background info. I'll check out these two Dead albums you posted... consider me quite Grateful :)
