Dunkirk | IMDB | MediaInfo

Summary: Dunkirk portrays the evacuation from three perspectives: land, sea, and air. It has little dialogue: Nolan sought to create suspense instead from cinematography and music. Filming began in May 2016 in Dunkirk and ended that September in Los Angeles, when post-production began. Cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema shot the film on IMAX 65 mm and 65 mm large-format film stock. Dunkirk has extensive practical effects, and employed thousands of extras as well as boats that participated in the evacuation, and period aeroplanes.

What are the differences between this and the other remux posted recently?

This one has more audio tracks. Video quality is identical.

Does this one have better audio then?

[-] SuspiciousJellybean | 5 points | Dec 08 2017 22:17:15

No, rather, it has more audio tracks (French, Spanish, Portuguese). The original audio (DTS-HD Master Audio) is the best you can get (discounting Atmos & DTS X) relative to the ones available in said version and is there in both versions.

This is a REMUX, which by definition cannot use compressed formats.

As for the other thing you mentioned, there are several MUCH SMALLER options of Dunkirk on the sub that were posted MUCH EARLIER than the remux, so again, your logic doesn't play out...

Aren't blue rays compressed anyway from raw footage shot though?

That would mean blue ray is already compressed, so compressing it with 265 would have same quality at reduced bittrate and smaller size? I'm asking this as I've read on forums many people get remuxes so in future they can use more advanced codecs to compress them in size while having same quality.

I'm newb when it comes so sorry if those are stupid questions.

By raw footage, do you mean film? Yes, film can store more information and detail than digital formats. I misspoke in my comment above; you are correct that the formats used by Bluray are inherently video compression formats. I was thinking of formats other than those used in Bluray when I wrote my comment. Basically, as best as I understand it, HD video on Bluray probably represents the best possible quality of a movie/show that we can get today.

In ten years however, when we're watching our shows on 16K TVs plastered on the side of our houses, we'll probably scoff at Bluray and it's 4K capability. This comment will be obsolete then :)

YOU MUST BE LOVELY AT PARTIES.

Yeah I am :) Mostly because I'm easy-going and don't mind answering stupid questions.
