I saw this movie in the theater and it was extremely disturbing. Not only for the graphic content, but for the fact that I simply didn't understand what the fuck was going on for the majority of the movie. So many people HATE this movie because they just don't understand it.
I will share one tidbit that I think everyone should know before embarking on this journey, mostly because I don't want people to hate this film for the wrong reasons. I think it's a safe one and spoiler-free. Your job as a viewer during this film is to spot all of the bible references & allegories. If you focus on that, trust me, you will enjoy the film more than if you had gone into it with just the trailer in mind.
Once you've finished the film, I highly recommend this read (massive spoilers) to find those things you may have missed. So many things clicked for me after I read this and I can't wait for a second viewing.

I caught all the references and allegories first time, and still hated it.
