I wouldn't worry first about bitrate, 1080i is interlaced which looks ok on a TV but subpar on a PC monitor.
Interlaced content compresses less well (if you want to keep it interlaced) or degrades the quality if you want to make it progressive later.
I'd check the framerates between the files you have (is it 1080i 60fps vs 1080p 30fps), and maybe try to get the information if it was shot in interlaced or progressive.
Eventually you may have to compare what suits your tastes better. Some people prefer interlaced 60fps vs progressive 30fps.
