I think it's brilliant, and I'm not even that big on watching shows anymore.
Aside from a few scenes where Jade Eshete's acting is.. atrocious to put it bluntly, it's a great show to watch. I enjoyed it way more than i thought i would initially.
I think its one of the few shows where if you liked the book you would like the series. the feel of it is something i thought would be impossible to translate into a TV show but they did a really great job.
Just had a look at the trailer for it and it seems awesome, downloading the first season now.
The first Dirk Gently book is actually the only Douglas Adams book I haven't sat down and read myself but I enjoyed listening to it on audio tape when driving across Australia about 10 years ago. Then finally got round to reading Long Dark Teatime of the Soul after that.

I think the story is just great.
