...how can this be a 1080p WEB-DL if the NTb version of the exact same thing is 5.1GB?

Compression?

To elaborate, it's either a re-encode using the NTb as source or a direct rip encoded using higher compression settings to reach a lower file size. I like these ones because of the audio being in AAC instead of AVC since my TV doesn't support the latter standard & HEVC was out of the window.

That's fine, except WEB-DL implies it's not re-encoded, it's just a straight downloadd. Should be labeled WEBRip from whoever encoded this thing.
