For some reason, this file isn't working in VLC (subtitles won't show). Never had this problem, re-checked encoding but still no result.

Weird. Just tried it on VLC and I have the same problem. It worked for me, but I use IINA.

I just opened the file in notepad++ and realised that the numbers which indicate which subtitle is in the sequence (.srt format) does not start from number one (1). Maybe IINA auto-corrects this, but seems that VLC doesn't.
Edit: Yes, that was the case. I just rearranged manually the numbers (first 10 subtitles) and it worked.

Interesting. I tried previous downloaded subtitles on the new episode and they are working as intented, so definitely this particular .srt file has some kind of problems with VLC.
