[Blackhat](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackhat_(film)) may be Michael Mann's strangest movie. Made six years after his previous movie Public Enemies it was a box office bomb whose failure was blamed on misleading trailers and very poor promotion. It is a movie that had a great deal going for it including its cast, director and its digital photography - night-time Hong Kong looks spectacular. The occasionally cliched dialogue and limited character development tend to drag it down. This is also Mann's first film since 2001's Ali that he didn't record a commentary for. One gets the impression that everyone involved just wanted to wash their hands of it and move on.
