Sooo, whats the deal with using Opus audio? (thanks!, just curious)

There's a few reasons, actually.

The first reason is that I started doing these encodes as personal projects that were basically just sitting on my hard drive for my own use on my media center PC, so I wasn't worried too much about compatibility across a wide variety of devices.

Opus is technically superior to AAC, compressing sound more transparently than AAC at identical bitrates. The idea is to have the highest-quality sound at a reasonable filesize since DTS-HD and other codecs like TrueHD are unnecessarily bloated.

Third is because I actually took a vote on what people would like to see as the primary audio codec in my encodes, and the majority voted for Opus.

EDIT: Fourth is because Handbrake can no longer (for almost 2 years now) come packaged with libfdk_aac which is the best AAC encoder out there. Other AAC encoder alternatives aren't up to snuff and don't support VBR quality-level encoding. | Megalinks MegaDB EDIT: Fourth is because Handbrake can no longer (for almost 2 years now) come packaged with libfdk_aac which is the best AAC encoder out there. I'm thinking of encoding some remuxes I have on my HDD; what bitrate do you use for Opus?

Will be encoding using Handbrake.
