That is the second x264 that froze my VLC in a week

Audio, but no video, no mouse, no switching to other programs, i can only press S, till it stops after a minute or so

Does it need some special settings in VLC? Let take a quick look at the x264 settings. omg VLC, what is that. which one is the wrong one?

I tried "skip loop filter", then it at least shows the first frame of the video

Didn't need to change anything here and it works.
Also, never touched those settings since I don't understand anything there.

It's probably something else on your PC. I would start with the graphic drivers.

Either use Windows 10s built in video player or Media player classic.

id suggest trying Gom Player but the last time I installed it the advertising in it was awful.

I used that way back, before the dude made it adware. Solid player a long time ago, but it just kept getting worse...
