I think the original cut has much tighter pacing and the fact that some of the new scenes in the director's cut are either incomplete or missing the set-up or following scenes is a bit jarring and unnecessary (the spider-walk stairs scene at the party comes to mind, there is no proper followup to it so even though the scene is really well done and on it's own is good it doesn't fit in the movie). By far the thing that bothers me the most is that Friedkin added in super-imposed "spectral" demon faces in the background of a lot of scenes that just look stupid and add nothing.

I dug around for an adware free version, got four different places with four different versions.

Tried to install one, and it started going nuts installing all kinds of different shit. Had to rkill that bitch.
