[Meta] is it worth it nowadays to purchase a MEGA account to bypass the limit? | Megalinks MegaDB [Meta] is it worth it nowadays to purchase a MEGA account to bypass the limit?

I mostly look for x264 stuff because my pi3 can't handle x265 so the limit has me at maybe 1 thing every 24 hours. Thanks!

Absolutely - just avoiding the aggravation is worth it.

Thanks that was exactly what I was thinking too. Price isn't all that bad and time is a lot more valuable lol. Which one should I get?

I went for the cheapest option since it more than covers what I dload. Also you can buy it via Android Play if you want. I had a credit with Google and used it for the purchase.

For me, yes, totally. I had the $5 one, then the remuxes for GoT dropped and I got the $10 one. I have been sapping up all the downloads I can find and get the highest bitrate I can, like remuxes. I downloaded a 200gb south park, over 100gb of iZombie, 100gb Archer, 60gb IASIP, basically I blew through the 1tb data transfer cap within a week and Kept emptying my mega sync so often. Now with the tier above it I am downloading so god damn much. and I love it. Just the GoT was worth the $10 for me, I was planning on renting the big br collection anyway, and that would have been $20 with a bunch of work to do ripping.

I just like this sub a lot mmmkay

I need my paycheck to hit so I can buy more of those 8tbs from BB and expand my pool. I am under 7tb free of a 28tb pool now!

Which drives are they? I've been loading my array with 8TB Red and I'm looking to add drives 9 & 10 soon.

Consider finding out if your IP address is changeable. No worries about bandwidth limits for me.

Yeah, i just run a batch file to have my router dc and reconnect to get a new IP, takes less than 20 seconds and good for another few gigs

how

[-] Sgt2k17 | 1 points | Oct 17 2017 11:11:56

Depends on the router you use. Ofcourse you do need to be able to acces the routers interface. Easiest way would be to google for "router model name" ip change batch

edit: iirc jDownloader also has an integrated ip changer which also supports batch files and other types of scripts to have your router dc/reconnect from the ISP, getting a new IP

No, not really. Just have patience and you don't have to pay a dime at all. I only paid once when the GOT remuxes were posted because I wanted to get that 600GB of episodes as soon as possible before they'd get taken down, but otherwise there's not really much of a benefit to paying for general usage

I get you there. I used to have the patience but nowadays time is gold and the price is not that bad it is about the same as a netflix subscription lol. Having to deal with searching for workarounds and testing them seems like A LOT of time. Thanks for your response though!

I feel ya. I cant afford to pay for premium or a vpn for a workaround, so I just leave downloads running overnight and wait out mega's time restrictions. For reference, I've been downloading all the remuxes posted here without a pro account or vpn, and it hasn't bothered me much

So when you just leave the downloads going over night, it goes from your normal speed, then you hit that 5GB limit and the speeds drop to like 1mbps for roughly 6 hours and then jump back up after that?! And the cycle repeats?

[-] Frodo_Bomb | 3 points | Oct 15 2017 22:26:27

When I download the remuxes here, most of them are split into around one hundred 200MB parts, give or take a few dozen. Jdownloader2 will breeze through the splits until I hit that 5GB limit, and the rest of the splits will pause completely (0Mbps) with the message "exceeded download quota" or something like that, accompanied by a countdown that's usually 5 or 6 hours, and I let that run through while going about my day. It automatically resumes downloading the rest of the parts at the end of the countdown, until it reaches the next 5GB quota.

Awesome, thanks for the info! I wasn't sure if you could leave it up like that and not touch a thing and it still worked, or if you needed to hit 'pause or stop' or something like that.

I already pay for a VPN, so not worth it.

[-] Neuropath26 | 1 points | Oct 15 2017 22:23:19

If you are actually considering it, don't forget that VPN is also a valid option. Quite a few that come with torrent/multiple device support only ask ~$50 for (their) lifetime subscription on stacksocial.com.

Windscribe and VPN unlimited are decent as far as I know.

I see. Does a VPN bypass the limit as well? I haven't used one since the torrenting days so I do not know of its purpose in the MEGA era lol. I do remember there was a workaround where you set your location to a different one every time you hit the limit on MEGA but if that were the case, I'd probably just pay for the premium account instead of going thru that hassle every time.

Thanks!

You do have to change servers/IP every time it hits the 5GB cap, so I suppose you would prefer paying for the premium account

Like you said if your only usage for VPN is Mega then it won't be a very pleasant experience tbh.

The reason I brought up torrent is because many of us switched to MEGA in order to avoid possible lawsuits, well, with VPN you can go back to torrent.

Even with some trackers to use, there appear things that don't pop up in other places. I actually ended up using Google Play credits to get an upgrade, specifically so I could grab the SNL uploads. And it's actually been really nice for grabbing various other things as well.

No. There are free ways to bypass without paying or using a vpn/proxy
