Are you using VLC by chance? The latest stable version seems to have issues playing 7.1 audio correctly, according to multiple users. If you are using VLC, you can try using the latest nightly build to fix the issue, or if you're on windows, I'd recommend using MPC-BE (my player of choice) or PotPlayer
