Does that mean they're rendered onto the picture, or are you able to turn them off in VLC?
They're hardcoded into the video. I tend to forget they're there, but it may still annoy viewers.
cannot turn them off. and it looks like the original probably has English subs, because in some places there is ape sign-language and the Korean subtitles appear to be giving them some meaning.
pretty sucky, but I decided to watch it this time.
but, if i'd have known, I'd have passed on it.

So glad i googled this subreddit. Solar movie only has korean subs not english softcoded ones.

If you download subtitles with MPC they are synced. Otherwise I upped them for you. SyncedSubs
