If you're having trouble downloading from MEGA, or can't bypass the bandwidth limit, use ZippyShare with JDownloader. If you're unsure on how to download using JDownloader, read the post I made here.

How much difference can I expect between this and the smaller variant?
Video quality!! I'll tell you the bitrate of the 8.2gb file in about 4 minutes
Quite a fair bit.
Just to answer /u/Mac10Pro as well, the bitrate of the FGT release is 4500 Kb/s while for this release it is 6060 Kb/s. Also this one has E-AC-3 audio (640 Kb/s) while the FGT release has AC3 (384 Kb/s).

In addition to a higher bitrate, the Amazon version contains about 40 minutes worth of bonus features after the movie ends, that's why the file is almost 3 hours long. There's deleted scenes, interviews and all that stuff.
For a visual comparison you could try visiting RARBG and take a look at both releases' screenshots. It would be better if they were the exact same frames but short of downloading both it's a good way for a rough comparison.

Is there a way you could upload the bonus content separate? Thanks

Great copy, thanks so much- almost one month early before the DVD release!

rarbg lists this file as a webrip and not a web-dl. Any idea which one it actually is?
[-] douhaveanygreypoupon | 3 points
It's WEB-DL.

How does this 8GB 1080p Amazon web download compare to a 8-10GB 1080p blu-ray rip? In general I mean.

In general I would say this is better, as it avoids possible encoding errors

Did they figure out how to do direct file rips from Amazon again? Last I looked they had been re-encoding the streams.

Direct amazon rips have been possible for a while.

They were like last September but Amazon fixed the crack around October/November of 2016. So unless a new crack came up, they have all been re-encodes since then.

A new method was found a few months back, they're back to proper WEB-DL again.

Nice, wasn’t aware, that must be why file size is down a little lately. Is there an obvious way to know if it’s a direct rip vs a true WEB-DL? I think the naming conventions haven’t been really followed by everyone last I looked and it wasn’t obvious last year which was which.

Most obvious way I know of is to look at the Mediainfo, the maximum video bitrate should be 15.0 Mbps for Amazon WEB-DL whereas a WEBRip usually won't have a maximum bitrate specified:

I guess I am misled by the name. WEB-DL implies a straight download/lossless rip. I would imagine a reencode would be a WEB Cap or similar

afaik they didnt, blu-ray rips are generally better

That's true but I also mean as in quality difference because I always thought that blu-ray rips where always the superior to webdl?

Nah, for equivelant file sizes I'd take the webdl any day. A real full blown Blu-ray rip is best though (15-35GB)
