Try using the latest nightly build of VLC. The latest stable version has issues with 7.1 audio. You could also try playing the file in MPC-BE if you're on Windows.

VLC has issues playing AAC 7.1 audio. Update to the latest Nightly Build of VLC or try using another player such as MPC-BE or PotPlayer.

Tried the latest nightly build, didnt worked. But it works with mpc-hc
