Orange is the new black is kinda like a fantasy, jail/ lesbian,girl-power situation in my opinion and not very good..also my opinion.
But to answer your question, same creator.
Weeds is definitely superior ( last season wasn't great). Lotta notable actors, cute Olsen twin as a stoner.. Mom from Modern family gets eaten out on a chessboard by the 17y.o. son, Kevin Nealon is hilarious. Overall great supporting cast, with an interesting lead female protagonist.
