What does "Tigole" mean? Is it the name of the original source?

It means it's compressed too much
Kidding (kinda), it's the name, or "tag," of the person/group that encoded it, and they usually use similar settings for each thing they encode, so you have an idea of the quality/compression level by looking at the file name

He has a lot of high quality h.265 encodes that he is kind enough to share. I actually have a folder dedicated to tigole movies. Most movies have soft coded subtitles and commentary audio too!
I personally prefer 265 over 264 because of the space saving aspect. No real noticeable loss in quality as well on my 24" monitor.

curious here. for the most part the scene groups just use the group tag. how come UTR uses the specific encoder tags vs the group tag?
on torrent sites they tag both but titles get shuffled around a bit by the time they make it over here. Also, often individual encoders use different settings when encoding so theres some differences between joy vs tigole vs lion etc even though theyre all UTR

It's their choice to give credit to the encoders vs just the whole group, it also helps people know what to expect as each encoder has their own method/settings. For example, Tigole's encodes tend to be larger than other UTR member's encodes and maintain more quality, Joy usually puts out multiple versions, a low quality low size encode and a CRF 22 high quality encode.
