Not a stupid question at all!

Tigole is an encoder with the release group UTR. They exclusively encode in x265 for high-quality compressed releases.

VLC should work, or Media Player Classic, or PotPlayer. If it still doesn't play, you don't have the required codecs to play the file. If you're on windows I'd recommend the k-lite codec pack.
