x265 is a new encoding algorithm that given the same source, produces comparatively the same quality at a significantly reduced file sizes. It does requires a more powerful computer to play and older devices might not support it.

An intergrated gpu (Intel HD 4000) runs BD remuxes fine, my biggest one yet that still hasn't lagged is a 50gb file from fate of the furious.

You don't need a heavy GPU when it's pre-rendered, but if your playing a game or upscaling the video you will expect to see some lag.
