[META] Handbrake vs vidcoder on Animation. Which is better? | Megalinks MegaDB [META] Handbrake vs vidcoder on Animation. Which is better?

Many of you have heard of handbrake and also may have heard of vidcoder. I looked for a moderate size and high quality version of Bojack horseman. Finding nothing good enough i downloaded the trollhd version and decided to encode it myself.
Sample:S01E02 - Bojack hates the troops
Handbrake - 452 mb at crf 22 at medium. Hanndbrake tune - automatic/ Animation.

Vidcoder - 354 mb at crf 22 at medium.
Vidcoder tune - automatic/ Animation.

So i encoded the video on all speeds from fastest to slowest except placebo on handbrake and still got this artifact. [Look at the edge of the table and the laptop] (https://imgur.com/yTRXHa5) So i used vidcoder and here's the [result] (https://imgur.com/KwTgvbm) I have no clue why this happened i encoded both at rf=22 and tried every speed from fast to slowest but each time handbrake gave this artifact. It also gave this artifact in other scenes with high panning motion. So objectively vidcoder is better.

Note: screenshot comparison betweeen originl and my own encode is [Here] (http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/116320) . And also between the original and hevc available on megalinks atm is [here] (http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/116319) So decide for yourself

Vidcoder's better for everything. Handbrake's always everyone's go to because its the most well known.

It uses Handbrake's engine, but the UI settings are much more simpler and in my opinion encodes much faster. I've tested it and I have no idea why.

As for your issue, I suspect your settings might just be different and that's why you're getting that result.

Ya exactly my thought. Dunno why the artifaact would occur though. I tried every codec and speed and filters but still handbrake vouldnt get rid of it but no probs on vidcoder. Now vidcider is my go to

I use Vidcoder cause it has the file size but also I just like it better than Handbrake. I still need to figure out the perfect settings to make my movies look good. Though I did an encode of Titanic and found that it too has artifacts during the night scenes. Have no idea what settings to set them to.

I usually encode my movies in h264 at 1080p with a size of 3GB to 5GB depending on how long the movie is. I usually only encode the movie without the audio as I do encoding of DTS-MA into DTS 5.1 in other programs.

H264 at 3-5 gb for blueay seems excessive try changing the size bracjet by a gba nd use advanced feature an set refrence b frames about 2 values lower

Try checking the mediainfo for both files and see what parameters are being used on the video stream.
