I really don't understand the cult following behind this movie..

I mean, I remember watching this in theaters and saying "meh, it was a decent movie". Have they added new scenes, more to the story in this new release?

There are a few new scenes added in.

The two new scenes are the Giant's dream (the scene when Giant and Dean are sleeping at the scrapyard and Giant dreams of robot armies), and a brief scene between Annie and Dean in the diner, right before Dean hauls away the tractor with the bite taken out of it.

The clip that the Giant's hand watches on TV right after Hogarth says "grace" is also different. It was originally a Maypo commercial, but has been replaced with a Tommorowland clip for the Signature Edition.

I could be mistaken, but I also think this is the first time the movie was released on BluRay.

Thanks for the upload! The Iron Giant is one of my favorite movies, maybe top ten of all time. I adore movies and work in the film industry, so that really means something to me. Having said that... I think the Giant's dream scene in the Signature Edition is a terrible addition, and the film is much stronger without it. It shows that the Giant was designed for war/conquest, instead of leaving it open for other possibilities or up to the audience to wonder about. Any idea where I could snag the theatrical version?
