For those who don't know, the writer's strike period of Late Night is legendary. Conan was legally bound from using any written material due to the strike, so he had to rely on his pure improvisational skills every night to entertain the crowd. While other hosts struggled without a script, Conan excelled. The show felt much more creative and bizarre, as you never knew what would happen next. Among fans, this brief period is considered the highlight of Conan's career.
These episodes began on January 1st 2008, and ended on February 14th, as that's when the strike was settled. There are 27 episodes in total.

These episodes were very difficult to find. I'd say they're significantly rare and deserve to be preserved. Personally, I hadn't seen them since their original airing almost
Enjoy.
god fucking dammit all i want and have ever wanted is the one with Neil Patrick Harris and Yeasayer that LITERALLY AIRED FEBRUARY 15TH THE NEXT NIGHT.
greatest late night TV music performance ever IMO.
much love though, many of these are awesome

Well buddy, looks like today is your lucky day.
Here it is: https://mega.nz/#!MtchSSRJ!Y1MWaYRWmjhWI6Wrszy2DIe7oZ3XvuUgfOv0V6igRQ0
I happen to have A LOT of Conan at my disposal, so I uploaded that episode just for you.
BRUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHⁿh thank you so fucking much i had that torrent in my torrent client for literally 3, 4, 5 years? and it was stuck at like 67% for that long. they kept dropping albums. i kept looking for this performance. every day i had this episode stuck at 2/3rds. were you the seeder? who else even has these? i can't remember anything i've ever sought after for this long.. after like 20 years of being online? it was definitely this vid. http://www.stereogum.com/8125/yeasayer_perform_conans_favorite_song_in_a_long_ti/video/ smh.
god bless you friend. seriously. xoxo

Wow. That's genuinely amazing. I had no idea that episode would end up having such a deep meaning for you. Thanks for telling me that. I'm glad I could help you finally hear it again.
I amassed a giant collection of Conan a few years ago from a private tracker that no longer exists and I've kind of just been sitting on the episodes since then. The fact I happened to have the one you wanted was cosmically coincidental.
[-] Reed_Solomon | 12 points
It's nice that people are keeping private archives of these things. That's what Johnny Carson did because he couldn't trust NBC . And he was right.

How giant is your collection exactly? What time frame are we talking about? I'd really love to see classic Conan stuff from the 90ies and early 2000s. Any chance you could keep sharing more episodes - even if they are not that old? You'd make a bunch of people very happy.
[-] BaneReturns | 4 points
I have every episode from 2004, 2007 and 2008. I'd love to share more, but I only have a free MEGA membership, so my ability to upload lots of episodes is severely limited.
I've had these episodes for years so I didn't need them, but I'm glad you uploaded them to share with people. My Conan collection basically consists of these episodes, the entire run of The Tonight Show, and other bits and pieces from years gone by like the New York Blackout other memorable bits and episodes. I'd give my left arm to have a nice complete set of the first 5 years or so but alas that's not likely to ever happen. Cheers to you again for sharing this set with others though as they deserve to be seen and preserved.
Make a new email and then a new mega account dedicated to that email. It's pretty simple, I have around 20 accounts right now.

I'm on a tight budget so the most I can offer is a month of pro lite.
[-] BaneReturns | 4 points
Hey man, the fact you offered that is ridiculously generous, but I know what it's like to be tight on money, so please hold onto it. I'll probably just make some alt accounts (I wasn't aware that was possible until today) and upload some more episodes on those.
Thanks again though.
[-] Wordsarescary | 2 points
Hey man, thanks a lot. Feel free to let me know if you change your mind. As a fan of Conan, I appreciate you sharing, especially the writer's strike episodes as that's a piece of history.
Do you have any tips for an uploader, as far as avoiding file deletion/account suspension? I'm new to the subreddit and have just been filling in some of the blanks in my collection of shows, but I'd like to contribute as well.
I love this entire comment tree. /u/BaneReturns delivers and /u/Ihaddox finds his long lost episode. Good stuff.
Also happy to see a lot of Conan's older works are available online, instead of just locked up in the NBC basement for no one to see.
Who wouldn't want to see a 3 way fight between Conan, Stewart, and Colbert? Good times.
I'd love to see anything from the 1997 to 2006 era as well. Anything with Brian Stack or Brian McCann in it!

wowzers, Yeasayer were amazing in that

I vaguely remember him climbing up into the rafters of the studio, with a handheld camera. Looking forward to seeing that again!
[-] aManPerson | 8 points
another nice bit to this, might be to see if you/we can find the colbert and daily show tie ins. they had a few skits that played off each other, and it was really great.
[-] BaneReturns | 5 points
That "feud" actually happened during the strike, so all of that is featured in these episodes, culminating in their famous 3 man battle.
[-] aManPerson | 4 points
but it wouldnt have the clips that happened on colbert and stewarts show. yes the final battle was on conans show.
I have the clips from Colbert and Stewart. I’ll post them to Mega later today. If they’re not up by like 8est reply to this and remind me.
[-] aManPerson | 3 points
awesome, thanks. i for very low quality bits and pieces. then comedy central had an edited down recap. strange to see how far we've come with quality and whatnot since then.
Not sure if you PM'd him, but i'd be interested in those eps too. Also, not sure if you're a big uploader really, but do you have other Colbert and Stewart? I'd love to get my hands on some classic late night CC
[-] PythonTech | 1 points
Do you know which episodes those ones were? I loved the feud ones but trying to find them in the past has proven difficult.
[-] procrasturbate_daily | 4 points
do you have early conan episodes from the 90s? even if you don't, I'd appreciate a steady stream of uploads from Conan.... I always wanted to collect it but it's hard to find quality torrents
[-] rustedmachines | 1 points
Quality?
[-] BaneReturns | 5 points
Each episode has a resolution of 608x352 in MP4.
[-] rustedmachines | 1 points
Sweet, thanks!
This is fucking amazing...do you have any 90s early 2000s daily show? I love the old Stephen Colbert and Steve Carrel shit. Thanks so much for uploading this, regardless if you have something I selfishly requested or not.
Watching the episodes right now! Started watching conan via youtube later in his career, seeing this is refreshing!
One question: with more "time" to spare doing weird bits, why do you think he didn't make the interviews longer? Too hard to synchronize two people with comical effect? Too risky?
EDIT: i forgot to say THANKS FOR SHARING!
[-] therealzordon | 1 points
which episodes have him riding the zip line to save Lincoln? that's what I want to find.

I fucking love you man

Thats bad ass. I vaguely remember it. Conan is a legend. Everyone else in late night is a scrub compared to him.
