[META] Megadownloader added IP renewal option | Megalinks MegaDB [META] Megadownloader added IP renewal option

As a workaround for the Mega Traffic limitation, I added the feature to execute an external script between each file download.

This means the passed script will be executed after a file has been downloaded.

In my case i call a script that reconnects my router via upnp, which gives me a new ip address.

./megadl --reset /absolute/path/to/script.sh mega.nz/......

testing branch

edit:

Sorry!

megatools not megadownloader :"3

can i somehow adjust the title?

Jdownloader has had this for years. And it's just a button you click. 🙈

a download client needs to run headless. Jdownloader doesnt really seem to work headless.

Last time i tried I was granted with an email address/ password prompt. wtf?

im not sure if the restart feature works either in a headless environment.

There is this thing called MyJdownloader that you have to use.

permalink

[-] gaythor | 2 points | Aug 21 2017 18:38:39

Is this english? Jdownloader has worked flawlessly for years. Yes the restart works, it also has built in scripts and smart detects your router. It has NO ads or accounts, so maybe you weren't smart enough to download the official version.

+1
And JDownloader has a large database of scripts for common routers

permalink

[-] CoCaptainJack | 1 points | Aug 21 2017 15:41:54

everyone is referecning this without any sources or guides to back this up. how does one do it?

permalink

[-] ewasion | 3 points | Aug 21 2017 16:01:27

Using the GUI (not sure how to do it headless): Settings tab > Reconnect > Browse script database

To enable auto reconnect check this box

[-] CoCaptainJack | 1 points | Aug 23 2017 19:04:29

I enter the information requested in the reconnect script Database and I receive a "nothing found" message every time. Do you know what the issue is by chance? or am I missing something here?

There probably are more than one script available for your router, keep trying

permalink

[-] CoCaptainJack | 1 points | Aug 23 2017 20:51:36

What do you mean by keep trying

permalink

[-] ewasion | 2 points | Aug 23 2017 22:59:24

try other scripts

[-] CoCaptainJack | 1 points | Aug 24 2017 02:36:38

zero scripts were found. I can't find any scripts to begin with

Sorry, didn't think about that.

You can easily make your own by following the instructions.

It's cool. I have used the cmd program for megatools, but prefer megadownloader as it just a click and the download starts. Megadownloader is just easier as it's less typing for lazy people like myself.

There is a .bat file for Mega Downloader on this sub somewhere that I've been using. Can be set to automatically refresh/switch ip, etc. I've used it about a dozen times over the last few months with great success

[-] enusri | 3 points | Aug 20 2017 18:08:39

i could not find it in this sub, could you please link it somehow.

Thanks.

[-] enusri | 1 points | Aug 20 2017 19:24:06

thanks. So you are using it, right ? will there be a problem with my isp if i use this? Or if i use this if i am also downloading from other sources ? i mean like while using torrents or something like that, if i use bat because my downlaod in megadownloader stopped, will my other downloads have any problem ?

Thanks in advance.

[-] dxrth | 3 points | Aug 20 2017 20:05:09

I'm the creator of the .bat, and yes I use it. And nope, there should be no issue. This .bat does disconnect you from the internet while it's doing it's job. It only lasts a few seconds though. Everything should start working again once it's finished though!

Do you know by any chance if this works with Comcast? If I disconnect and reconnect my router, I don't think I get a new IP. I think.

permalink

[-] dxrth | 1 points | Aug 21 2017 03:52:48

I'm also on Comcast, and this works. This exploit has nothing to do with getting a new IP

If you hit the 5gb limit for the hour, and you are NOT downloading anything else on any other program (torrents for example), then close MD and click on the file. It'll be done in less than 30 seconds and you're back up and running. I've used this multiple times with no issue at all.

[-] MrTattyBojangles | 1 points | Aug 20 2017 22:21:40

I've been running the .bat with MD still running and it still does the job perfectly.

the ip address renewal can this function be added to megadownloader for those who dont want to use megatools cmd line

permalink

[-] 1231231231231232131 | 1 points | Aug 20 2017 15:36:40

I do not think so. It depends on the router model i think. Thats why i took this route. Jdownloader doesnt have 'one way to do it' either. They ask you to reconnect your router via the web interface and record the process.

edit:

I think i misunderstood your request. I didn't know there is a megadownloader (presumably gui) program. I only ever used the megadl program via terminal.

the reconnect script i am using looks like this:

Two files: reconnect.sh and reconnect.xml

The router needs to have upnp enabled.

No guarantee that it works for other models besides certain Fritzbox models.

Can somebody link me to a video of something like this being used in action. I can't quite wrap my head around executing code in the command prompt and having it influence a third party app on the fly like this

[-] MrTattyBojangles | 1 points | Aug 20 2017 22:20:16

Is this similar to /u/dxrth's .bat workaround?

it looks like this fork is now the same as the master megatools repo.

Am i reading it wrong? Or did the master incorporate the change or did you remove yours?
