[META] Any solution to the bypass problem that doesn't require a VPN yet? | Megalinks MegaDB [META] Any solution to the bypass problem that doesn't require a VPN yet?

I really miss the days where I could just download unlimited files with Mipony. Now three months after programms weren't able to bypass the 5GB limit, is there a solution that won't require setting up a VPN?

Thanks for answers. Cheers.

Purchase a Mega subscription.

I have tried several times, I always get error. So frustrating. Do you pay with CC or bitcoin?

I had that error on my side too. I actually had to download the Mega app on my phone and I was able to purchase an account. It's worth it though. Being able to download whatever you want and save files to your cloud storage in case they get pulled from megalinks.

My procedure:

permalink

[-] CarolinaHome | 2 points | Aug 19 2017 13:59:15

most private internet connections are dynamic

With Comcast here - even when the neighborhood power goes out for a few hours things return with the same IP number. My old DSL seemed to be static as well. While it is technically dynamic since they don't guarantee the same IP number, in reality it seldom changes.

When I restart my router every device gets a new ip my carrier is telekom in Germany.

Americans have a different IP system, theirs is permanent

permalink

[-] ruralcricket | 2 points | Aug 19 2017 20:26:14

Not so much permanent, more that the DHCP lease expiry is very long (hours).

Yes.

This simple .bat file resets your windows Network Stack entirely, without needing a reboot and continues your download after it reaches the 5GB limit. No VPN required.

[-] Silverbackus | 2 points | Aug 19 2017 19:05:14

Only works with dynamic IPs correct?

permalink

[-] dxrth | 2 points | Aug 19 2017 20:17:43

Not necessarily. There's a flaw with Mega, when combining Megadownloader with the stack reset that allows the limit to be reset in a lot of situations.

It doesn't seem to work with Mega Link Downloader, but works perfectly with MegaDownloader v1.7.

Live in California and use PIA, have 85 Mbps (10.6 MB/s) download connection and get an average 64 Mbps (8 MB/s) with or without | Megalinks MegaDB with or without PIA. Super cheap, unlimited data, and a shit ton of locations. Now, I honestly can't say much in terms of privacy or torrenting as that's not why I got it. But for downloading from Mega, works like a charm.

Although, switching locations every 5gb can be annoying, it's the only solution we have right now for Mega other than resetting router for those without a static IP. Still, pretty easy to do with PIA.

  1. Disconnect from current server.
  2. Wait for it to actually disconnect (~2 seconds).
  3. Right click and connect to a different server. (Or the first server if you're not connected)
  4. Wait for it to connect (~14 seconds).
  5. Continue downloading from Mega.
  6. Rinse and repeat as needed.

[-] sloppy | 3 points | Aug 19 2017 15:45:29

I second PIA. It's been just the answer for several things. One is file hosts that usually look at the IP to tell how long you have to wait. Another is privacy. My ISP wants to charge you for privacy by the month. Well let them look at the encrypted tunnel for all the data they can gather. It isn't going to be that much. They're not going to insert adds into my browsing stream.

It's been my answer to many problems and I continue to enjoy using them. It's worked for every OS from Vista to Win 10.

Live in Australia, internet so slow you can't load shit with VPN.

permalink

[-] chickenfliq | 4 points | Aug 19 2017 11:30:32

My problem is that I still have to change the Location of the server manually. So even if I use a VPN service I can't just let Megadownloader download stuff overnight.

Edit: also a lot of VPN services and programs don't work for me and I already spent more than enough time trying to make them work without success

I don't know about other people, but personally MegaDownloader manages to download large files with no problem. I can start parallel downloads for multiple 5gb+ files - they all download without stopping.

permalink

[-] tiiiiimmmm | 3 points | Aug 19 2017 15:08:02

Yes, this is how I use MegaDownloader, it only checks when starting each individual file download if you are over-limit so any download in progress will complete.

permalink

[-] limitbreaker77 | 1 points | Sep 11 2017 20:16:00

Hm, does this also work with Megatools/JDownloader then?

permalink

[-] tiiiiimmmm | 2 points | Sep 11 2017 20:33:15

Yes, that has been my experience. You should not need to buy access to mega to download big files, you just need a vpn or dynamic ip to refresh your address when new downloads wont start.

I realize it's like a week later hahah, but just thought I'd point out that JDownloader doesn't seem to work -- I got hit with the "Bandwidth Limit Exceeded" Error at ~5GB. Wasn't able to test using Megatools because I wasn't able to start a new download and didn't know how to reset IP on Linux, lol.

Edit: Also, Megadownloader doesn't seem to finish downloads in progress, but I do have a higher limit because why not lol. I downloaded 6.33GB from one link and 1.96 from another, and they've both stopped now.

permalink

[-] tiiiiimmmm | 1 points | Sep 20 2017 06:25:06

Were these multi-file links or single large files that you were trying to download? That comment pertains to each individual download, not link. Links can start new downloads as each file starts individually when megadownloader has open space available.

permalink

[-] limitbreaker77 | 1 points | Sep 20 2017 06:34:30

Oh eh, forgot to account for individual downloads in a link. One was a singe file (6GB/8GB downloaded) and the other multiple files. Suppose JDownloader might not be at fault then, and that Mega only gives a bit of leeway past 5GB?

permalink

[-] tiiiiimmmm | 1 points | Sep 20 2017 08:44:56

Could be, but I wonder if megadownloader just kills everything as soon as one download reports back as over the limit. That seems more likely to me since the error would generate from Mega's servers first.

permalink

[-] limitbreaker77 | 1 points | Sep 20 2017 17:09:18

Well the 8GB download had still proceeded for a bit while the other set of downloads had already stopped. It is possible the individual files just took a while before actually reporting the first error, but that just doesn't seem as likely imo.

With the Megadownloader patch, it's looking like the future is waiting or paying.

Obviously VCD showed everyone the free Windscribe work around, but I've already hit that shit this month so for heavy downloaders, you can either be patient or pay. And being patient is free, to be honest, as is all the content we get here so there's really nothing to complain about.

When it comes to paying, its basically you either pay Mega the 5 bucks a month to get the terrabyte transfer (if you're downloading more than a terrabye a month you have other things you could probably be worrying about than 5 bucks.) Or, you pay a VPN to get around the transfer limit lock, but if you get something like NordVPN for example, youre still paying about 5 dollars a month. So, it's basically who do you want to give your 5 bucks to?

Again, waiting is free. Being patient is free. We had fun with the workaround but the cheque has come, so to speak.

permalink

[-] tiiiiimmmm | 1 points | Aug 19 2017 11:37:03

I know many people can't afford it but a paid VPN is really worth it because of the fast speeds. I'm always behind my VPN because you can mask traffic further, bypass bandwidth limits, further avoid ad-tracking, pick dynamic pricing of digital products across regions, etc. I have been very happy with Cyberghost, for $99 a year I get a 5-machine license that covers all my computers + my phone + HTPC

[-] BioKram | 1 points | Aug 19 2017 14:45:52

OpenVPN is a viable option for those who don't want to pay anything for a VPN. You also use something like Proxifier and setup a bunch of proxies to use with Megadownloader, no VPN required.

Here is the post that talks about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/megalinks/comments/6h9otc/tutorial_how_to_download_unlimited_from_mega/

In either case you are probably going to have to switch each time the limit hits. Unless more people start using ZippyShare with JDownloader.

one month, one terabyte, 5 bucks. Honestly, I could never regret that.

Get everything you want to download all set up then start them at the same time. 5GB limit becomes irrelevant then.

permalink

[-] Leafshade | 1 points | Aug 20 2017 03:28:22

I kinda have a solution, although not sure how everyone would like it.

If you are downloading a show or something through megadownloader, set the speed to something slow (it's each file) and force start all the episodes, they should all complete even if their total is over your limit.
