The thing is, your isp doesn't really care. You're paying for and using their service.
They copyright holders are the ones that go after pirates; but they don't have access to the data that's between you, your isp, and mega. When you torrent, it's different, because you're uploading data at the same time as you're downloading it. So they have access to your IP address, which allows them to send a letter to your isp that says "this ip was uploading copyrighted material, issue a warning to that customer".
The main concern with downloading/streaming from sites like mega is if the site is taken down by a law agency, they might have records of "this ip downloaded xyz files." That's why people use VPNs, to mask their IP through a different IP. You could still be caught if they ALSO took down your vpn and had records of your IP connecting through that VPN's ip, but the likelihood of that happening is pretty low, since many VPNs keep as little records as possible for as short a time as possible.

what if you would live in a flat with multiple people beneath and above you? Could they still tell who's IP it is? (since multiple people have the same Location as me) ((sry for incoming dumb question))
If you're getting a dedicated line, what your neighbors do has no effect on you.
[-] zerodaythrowaway | 6 points
If you're all behind the same router, no, they can't tell which specific person is downloading what. The ISP/copyright company would go after whomever's name is on the account.
Yea, I've gotten like 5-6 emails from Comcast about copyright infringement. Latest one was Rick and Morty last week. Don't really care about them tbh.
Edit: Proof for you people. I wasn't implying MEGA did this. I was just saying I've also gotten infringement

Yeah, this would be the first I'm hearing of it. Mega is SSL encrypted.

Why would you even mention it here?

If you notice: "Infringement method: BITTORRENT" on all of those.
[-] AReverieofEnvisage | 1 points
Yup got the same from downloading The Wire from Bittorrent. I now use Windscribe to download stuff but the speed is sometimes half of what my download speeds are. I wont be downloading big files like that from bittorrent again.
The files you screenshotted are files that sometimes megalinks has on Mega, but the keys to encrypt don't work or something goes wrong. So I'm forced to download from Bit. So I'm grateful for the posters that just link a snap protector link removing the hassle. I'll still use VPN though.
can confirm work at an isp we don't care what you download, how much you download or what you do. In 2 years working here I've heard of only 1 dmca letter being sent out but I primarily do business customers.
The important thing is: it is so unlikely that you will get in trouble because of it that it makes worrying about it useless.
Basically remember:
torrenting without a VPN = big risk
DDL = same level of risk as a plane crashing in your house
[-] AReverieofEnvisage | 10 points
I worry about having a plane crash through my house. So maybe I shouldn't download.

I watched Donnie Darko enough times to know I don't have any say on how wormholes and time travel will work, only that I have to follow that path that comes from my chest.
Under blue moon I saw you, so suddenly you kissed me.
Sometimes I doubt your commitment to sparkle motion.

First of all, Papa Smurf didn't create Smurfette. Gargamel did. She was sent in as Gargamel's evil spy with the intention of destroying the Smurf village. But the overwhelming goodness of the Smurf way of life transformed her. And as for the whole gang-bang scenario - It just couldn't happen. Smurfs are asexual. They don't even have reproductive organs under those little white pants. That's what's so illogical, you know, about being a Smurf. What's the point of living... if you don't have a dick?

No. I guess. Check these links -

I dont believe so based on what Ive read about Mega but I myself use a VPN so Ive never looked too far into it.
https protocol. only you can see it. they are too busy chasing those sick kiddie porn f-ks anyway

No, MEGA has an SSL certificate. Your ISP can see that you are downloading a file of X size from MEGA, and they can see that you are actually connecting to MEGA, but they don't know what file it is. In terms of how SSL protects you from your ISP is that they can see what site you're going to but not what you do on that site. So they know you went to pornhub.com but not pornhub.com/video/search?search=mommy-make-out-day

I thought that was what HTTPS did, can you please explain how do I know Im using a SSL and what HTTPS does? Thanks

HTTPS is SSL. Or technically TLS, the successor of SSL, but people often use the acronyms interchangably.

This is true, but if there really after you, they could easily see that on your reddit account you recently visited multiple links from /r/megalinks for downloads.
Of course they would need to login or beg reddit to give them logs.
If you want to be real secure, download windscribe, private windows, and dont login to your reddit.

Again, Reddit also has an SSL certificate. If you see an HTTPS next to the url in your browser, it means your connection is encrypted. The only thing my ISP knows is that I went to Reddit. Now they could go on to my Reddit account and see that I posted these comments here, but these aren't incriminating, I'm just explaining SSL and what our ISPs can see.
And it's worth mentioning that the ISP won't do shit. The actual copyright holder is the only person that can file a complaint. That's why torrenting is bad; your IP is directly visible unless you use a VPN. You're also sharing at the same time, so technically you are distributing copyrighted material. With direct download links, you are doing neither. You are simply downloading a file from an encrypted website. There's no telling what that file is and even if there is, only the copyright holder can do anything against you, but they won't, because they don't know your IP.
The only people that are at risk are the ones who upload and share the MEGA links. Those guys need to be careful. But if you only download and don't share, then you're fine.

They don't care about the downloaders. It's the distributors/rippers/uploaders they want. You don't kill weeds by cutting off the top.
