Am I the only one that thinks h265 doesn't live up to its hype? I downloaded this and also have the same series in h264 and it looks better in h264. All together its 32gb, (Saw 1 is ~4.9gb).
Noticeable digital artifacts in this h265 vs the h264. You can see the blocks.

Probably not
He might used wrong settings or the source was not ok. I have many h265 movies now that look exactly the same in both codecs. My preferences for encoding is somewhere between 22 or 24 RF depends on the movie duration.

I agree with you. Some H265 encodings can get the file size pretty small, these movies are not one of those.

I have seen some pretty good h265 encoding of Game of Thrones that had a significantly small file size. I am assuming the encoder of these movies didn't use the right settings.
