Thank you for your comment. I've never saw this idea put into words so elegant, funny and simple.
For me, Tocotronic always were the poets of my generation. I listen to them since my youth, and that's loong ago. I always understood them, but couldn't say what they mean.
By the way: I expect some obscurity from poetry, or from art in general. If you really can explain what you want to say with your poem or painting or whatever, you should have written an essay instead.
Exactly, their lyrics are probably awful but their songs are very catchy alternative rock especially from the first few albums so ignorance is bliss for a foreigner like me. Same with Juli, Kante, and Tomte whom I'm guessing are too pop at least lyrically but good for non-Germans.

I don't understand German at all but I listen, the 2002 album is very consistent.
I do prefer the German singing band from my username though, Sportfreunde Stiller, their singles collection is strong.
