I don't think increasing framerate is high on the to-do list for hollywood. Look at the hobbit HFR - it was only 48fps but still some people hated it and others loved it.
James Cameron was supposed to be doing Avatar 2/3 in 60fps but scaled it down to 48fps. then again Avatar was meant to kickstart 3DTV and that was finally killed off this year after floundering for so long.

I was actually specifically looking for 720 since I kept finding 1080p versions that, for one reason or another, VLC media player was choking on causing lag and stuttering. Plus I wanted to keep it consistent with the rest of the episodes I've got.

Other video players fail to play the specific Game of Thrones mkv files I've trying, though I've downloaded others that have stuttering in vlc but play perfectly in Chrome (but this prevents me using subtitles). I've got other .mkvs that work fine.
My system is pretty solid. i5 and a gtx 970.
Try getting k-lite codec pack if you haven't already. It may be the case that you don't have the proper codecs to decode the video (LAV is better than ffdshow decoder for performance). I use media player classic and playing 1080p x265 video works even on my i5 laptop.

Well, installing K-lite curiously caused thumbnails for a bunch of mkvs to load, but it didn't solve the stuttering.
Although I just downloaded Media Player Classic and that did the trick, actually, subtitles and all. Thanks for bringing that player to my attention.

How about The Beast. It was the last show that Patrick Swayze starred in. I saw the 1st episode and then tried to find out online but only got youtube really low quality videos. If anyone has a decent copy, 480 would be fine, I'd really appreciate it. I have meant to finish that one and only season for a long time since I feel the pain of some Swayze. Well, I have a solution if you are willing to share. The first 50 GB on a Mega account for free. What I would suggest is create an account, fill it up as much as you can then create a new account and repeat until all of it's all been uploaded. When it's done, post the links to the various folders and you're all done. Use something like 10minutemail.com to create a throwaway email account to sign up.
