Just a quick question, where does this fall in the Star Trek Franchise? Never seen any of them before so I want to know if this one is one of the shows I should watch

This is a prequel, set before all other shows, but they are best watched in production order.

Check the sidebar of /r/startrek for recommended viewing orders of the whole franchise.

First and foremost, thank you for the uploads; your efforts are much appreciated!

Now, a couple of observations re. the encoding:

-enconding the sound to FLAC is an absolute waste of space; it's speech, plus the occasional sound effects and film music; you DON'T need those to be lossless; AC3/AAC would do just fine even for 160KB/s!

-there's no need for "denoise"; the original image is pretty soft and does NOT need further softening (not to mention an increase in encoding time, as more analysis/processing is needed).

I know that FLAC is not necessary, but compared to a 1.5Mbit/s DTS core for example, it saves space. If anyone wants to compress it further, a FLAC track is probably the most versatile format. I agree that AC3/AAC is an option, but below 384KB/s it can sound pretty bad (maybe not on a stereo setup, but on a 5.1 system the difference is notable).
I'm also an audiophile, pretty much my entire Music collection is in FLAC. Why not movies (edit: and TV shows) too?

Also, I apply the denoise, as it (especially this show) is quite grainy. Episodes would be around 20% larger (since this is a CRF encode), with barely an increase in quality. I don't really mind the extra encoding time.

I do appreciate the feedback though.

Thank you for your reply!

While I disagree re. FLAC, I respect your choice (and, again, I thank you for making this available). I just want to observe that most people have normal TVs and/or normal hearing, thus FLAC will not make any difference for them (as someone with absolute pitch and years of formal musical training, I have to say that well-encoded 320KB/s MP3s and FLACs are pretty much indistinguishable on Hi-Fi systems, let alone on normal ones).

Re. denoising: if you don't mind extra processing cycles, why don't you choose H.265 instead of H.264? And, again, according to Handbrake's documentation, "the grain is reduced, but there is a noticeable loss of quality | Megalinks MegaDB noticeable loss of quality".

H.265 takes me at least 4 times at long (without denoise). That's an extra time I do mind.

With Ultralight Denoise I personally can't tell the difference, but I won't dispute anyone who says they can.
