https://windscribe.com/signup Click "Use for Free" register (username, password, email) Click "Have a Voucher" Use code: SOS60GBS You must comfirm the email, but you can use a throwaway. code increases free 10GB account to free 60GB/month. I've been using for a year. works for regular DL and torrents.

I use windscribe as well. Switching IP's/locations to work around 5gb cap is very simple
I have tried, but still hitting cap. Should an ongoing DL be paused and IP location switched before reaching cap? Can you use Megasync? Should we be completely logged out of Mega?
[-] fonts-a-tron | 4 points
Use megadownloader and copy the mega link to there. Once you get an error on the download bar, changed your location in windscribe and reset the download

60GB-per-month for one year.
[-] IgnoreMyName | 5 points
How good is this VPN? I've read multiple times that free VPN is useless but I assume that's more for torrenting? This would work fine simply for Mega and switching IPs right?
Either way , thanks OP!
[-] cybersphere9 | 3 points
Pretty slow for me. Under 10Mbps.
[-] IgnoreMyName | 3 points
I meant in terms of reliability and safety.
Although, that is pretty slow. Have you tried switching servers/locations?
[-] thankyoubasedmadoka | 6 points
not sure what you mean about reliability and safety. it's a free VPN, it's probably not gonna be very reiable. as far as safety goes, you're using it for MEGA so theres no safety problem to begin with. nobody can track your downloads from MEGA anyway. it's not the same as torrenting, where people can just join the torrents swarm and log every IP that is connected. I wouldn't trust them at all in regards to torrents though, they probably sell user information and would roll over for any goverment agency asking about logs.
the speed would also be a problem, since you have to stay connected to the VPN while downloading (if your own IP is over the limit), and the speeds on these things are usually atrocious. I use a paid VPN and the speed still sometimes drops below my connections max.
You should just get a cheap VPN like PIA anyway, it works wonders for MEGA and also torrenting. it's like $6 a month for unlimited consumption of free shit, it's a no brainer.
[-] [deleted] | 2 points
Good shit dude
How many IPs do they have available? Doesn't the possibility exist that multiple mega visitors will start sharing the same VPN IP address and reaching the bandwidth limit for that IP?
Happens all the time but the time to wait is usually lower and it's in addiion to your personal IP
[-] not_the_irrelevant | 2 points
thanks!
is there a way to use this VPN on android?
It's still in early access for Android. Guess it'll take some time before they release.
[-] HoneyFoxxx | 1 points
You can use openvpn, but you need a pro account
[-] CakeDebris | 1 points
Thank you so much dude!!
sorry for the stupid questions but how will this help with the download limit exactly?

I'm trying out ProtonVpn and there are so few IPs at the free level that sometimes a new IP is already maxed out with Mega.

[-] Immortallix | 1 points

[-] OutToDrift | 1 points
I'm pretty sure any free VPN is going to collect and sell your information otherwise how do they stay in business?
[-] [deleted] | 1 points
Linux (Pro only)? Why if I may know?
[-] HoneyFoxxx | 1 points
I asked then already.
They don't have a native app so you have to use openvpn, which is one of their pro features.
[-] [deleted] | 1 points
Ah, now I get it. I saw there is linux app 'coming soon' on the website so this is an alternative.
[-] throwawayacc9k1 | 1 points
For the free account they don't have a singapore server. Nearest they have is hk which is kinda sucks for us asia pacific users. I appreciate though.
[-] Borschvyruss | 1 points

thank you just what I needed
been using it for over a year now
works on existing accounts; claim voucher and done :)
When I turn on windscribe and connect it with my own country and download using megadownload, the download starts but it keeps a downloadspeed of 0.00kb/s. Changing IP doesn't work.
When I turnoff windscribe the download starts again. Am I doing something wrong?

Does Windscribe publish transparency reports that include a National Security Letter canary?
permalink
[-] o2pb | 5 points | Jul 05 2017 03:17:37
We are based in Canada, which has no NSL equivalents, so publishing a warrant canary is rather pointless.

[-] T-400 | 4 points | Aug 22 2017 04:43:41
Please publish one anyway. I would very much appreciate this. My level of respect for the company would skyrocket. It's as easy as sticking something on the site that says you haven't been inspected by some government agency. Please do this.

permalink
[-] o2pb | 2 points | Jul 10 2017 19:37:24
What exactly "doesn't work"? You can't login into the app, or you can't connect to any locations? You should probably contact support through our website, and send us a debug log from Preferences.
permalink
[-] cosmicblue24 | 1 points | Jul 10 2017 20:15:53
Well I had already logged into the app and was using it in countries where it works so that's fine. It's now when I'm in Dubai that connecting to a location doesn't happen work any more. Guessing the ISP's here have blocked it. Oh also the main website windscribe.com is blocked as well. Though the "this website has been blocked by the UAE govn." splash page doesn't show in the browser. Just simply the chrome page which says this site can't be reached.
permalink
[-] o2pb | 3 points | Jul 10 2017 21:52:27
The website uses HSTS which is why it fails to show the blocked page you typically see.
As for not being able to connect, does this happen with all locations you try? We'd need to see the debug log, so contact support with your username.

Oh bloody hell! I found the log button and started to go through it. Found a line saying it couldn't find the adaptor, so checked my adaptor settings and found it had been disabled, it's working now!! :D Need to debug the other computers to see if some update had magically disabled those adaptors.

Hey man I just downloaded windscribe on my Razer blade stealth (QHD) and it's super tiny. To clarify, the gui is super tiny. Any way to fix this without scaling down to 1080? I don't like to strain my eyes. Thanks

[-] o2pb | 2 points | Jul 05 2017 13:06:39
Do you have a scaling factor of 150%?

YepProof
permalink
[-] o2pb | 3 points | Jul 05 2017 13:57:16
The current version only looks at 100% and 200%, so anything in between assumes 100% scaling factor. Next version will have this fixed.

Hi, I used this couple code earlier and I had 60GB/month free.
I recently saw another 50GB free voucher and thought it might add another 50GB on top of my 60GB/month free.
However, upon entering the 50GB voucher, it downgraded my original 60GB to 50GB :(
While I am grateful for such a wonderful service, it would be great to fix this bug so the new vouchers don't downgrade your service. is there anyway to get my previous code working?

Hi, Sorry but I have noticed one more issue and this is a major one, I hope you can guide.
In my desktop utility, I have firewall set to "always ON" and I am using torrents. Sometimes when windscribe disconnects, all on HTTP traffic through browser is stopped due to the firewall as expected but my utorrent keeps on downloading. I would assume that all my torrent traffic should stop too when its not connected.
I have checked/unchecked "Add Windows Firewall Exception" under utorrent settings but it did not affect it. So utorrent is still bypassing windscribe somehow.
At this point it seems my torrets are still exposed if windscribe disconnects in between.
Do you have any suggestions?
