The series jumps the shark after this season. It just gets progressively worse.

The season with John Lithgow was the pinnacle of the series, I don't think too many people would contest that. And the way the season ends makes a better ending putting Dexters story come full circle.

The best was Season 2 with Doakes. I can't even remember Season 3 because it was so annoying. Dexter just becomes dumber and dumber as the show goes on.
