Hmm..

Either someone doesn't know what a TeleCine is, or TC has a new meaning, because this looks an awful lot like a cam..

Scene labeling has gone to shit. There are new "TC" releases all the time but I haven't seen a real one in years.

I always thought it referred to audio quality, but I guess I was mistaken. TS refers to audio quality -- whereas TC refers to video, or both audio and video?

TS or TeleSync is a movie filmed in the cinema with a camera. And instead of the cam audio is uses audio from a different source. Some drive-in cinemas broadcast the audio on the FM band so you can listen to it on the cars sound system. And it can be recorded from that.

TC or TeleCine is the process where a movie on a film roll, both video and audio, is being recorded onto another media, either digital, or in the earlier days to video tapes for use in the TV industry.

It's a much better transfer, and leads to a much higher quality than a camera recorded version. Back in the day Telecines became so high quality that groups tried releasing them as a DVDrip, but they were often nuked, due to the cue marks, or "cigar burns" or "cigarette burns" as they were also called, were still visible on a TC.

TeleCine these days thoug are pretty much non-existing, since most cinemas these days use digital movies, and therefore there's no need to transfer the movie from a roll to another media.

Therefore there's no doubt in my mind that this is a cam of some sort. It might have another audio source, but the picture is definitely no converted though a TeleCine process.

Thanks for giving a comprehensive explanation of the difference.

I know its a rip from film. Could it just be a poor rip?

It's a rip alright.. but done with a camera in a cinema.

This was not ripped from the film roll in a TeleCine machine.
