There are a variety of conversations that are happening right now about the future of megalinks. The is mostly centered around a change that impacts some software being used. I have no idea how statistically significant the use of that software is. I don't use it and I don't personally know anyone who does. In any case, there are some very vocal users who are now disenfranchised from Mega. Those users are now looking for other other hosts to use.
I have this question...
Are people suggesting that /r/megalinks should allow links to other hosts
OR
are people suggesting that users move to new (or existing) subreddits like /r/zippysharelinks/ or /r/whateverlinks/ ?

I don't know if people even know what the discussion is, so probably they couldn't answer your question.
I know I made a post mentioning that you could pay $5 a month for a mega subscription and the moderators deleted it.
https://www.reddit.com/r/megalinks/comments/6f76bf/meta_while_were_discussing_options_i_just_wanted/
So I guess that doesn't fit the agenda, whatever it may be.
Any time there's a problem it's a mass freakout. If you think this is bad, you should have seen the drama when the 5GB limit was first enacted.
There are multiple ways around this. Some are free like resetting your IP manually, or via a a script, or a VPN. You can also just cough up 5 bucks a month. I did and it's more than worth it.
Right now people are just freaking out like always because there's been some change, and they fear it. People calling for abandoning MEGA are like the people who call for making the sub private every time some files get taken down: it's a bad idea and it doesn't solve the problem, but it feels good to say it if you're not thinking it through.
Edit: LOL 9 hours later and I still can't get an answer why my post was removed. although it was clearly removed in retaliation because in the past I had pointed out some things a mod was saying weren't true. Classic passive-aggressive.
Yes. I have also been using the monthly subscription and found it to be worthwhile.
Personally I think that /r/megalinks/ should remain exclusively links to Mega from a logical and usable perspective. Uploaders may choose to upload their content ealsewhere which is perfectly fine but their links should be put in the appropriate place and not in the megalinks sub. This is why we currently do not have lots of google drive links because they belong in their own place.
I don't understand the issue either people complaining and bitching because they cant get there illegal downloads faster with out paying 5 bucks.. lol

I agree, while the point is to download as much as stuff as you want to have and pay as little as possible to do so chances are if your habitually using this thread you have invested some sort of money into this "hobby" or whatever you wanna call it weather it be a vpn or storage space or premium filehosting accounts or whatever. If you are downloading stuff that is so big you're constantly hitting the bandwidth limit you're flatout lying if you say you haven't invested any money in storage space, so what's the big deal with investing a little bit in a premium account for a filehosting site? I canceled my netflix in favor of a premium mega account and I must say it is by far one of the most worthwhile investments I ever made and if you're gonna say something like I use a friend's netflix account like the rest of the world refer to the previous 2 sentences

I REALLY hope megalinks survives. Because I typically (not always) download smaller files (3-5 GB). So I can miss that 5GB limit every 7 hours. I'd say I'm a light user on this subreddit compared to most, so I really want it to survive!
I have no problem solving capcha or password protected links, etc as long as it leads to mega.
(Also, does a file become corrupt or unusable if it hits that limit and you have to wait to finish the downloading it later? Or is the file fine, u just gotta wait?(Asking for the unplug router temp solution)).

I haven't had any problems with corruption with waiting for a download to resume. It's just like pausing it manually.

Hahaha! I wish. It used to be 350GB like 4 months ago. I paid for 50mbps then. That was super rough. Kept going over that dumb limit. Then they updated their plans and I was bumped to 60mbps and 400GB. Still dreadful but better I guess. Ugh

I realize your comment is 3 days old, but I literally just used megatools to download this, posted 4 hours ago.
Here's proof - I'm keeping the link scrambled for obvious reasons, and as if it matters, I forgot to remove the backslashes the first time I pasted the URL. Point is, it's still working for me.
