I am surprised Reddit calls them PM's. Most places do not call it PM anymore (Private Message). Most places use DM (Direct Message) for this reason. PM's are not private anymore. Time for Reddit to switch it to DM's.

Yeah I found this out the hard way, so I usually just send the #F!... bit and it tends to work.

Some people space out the parts of the link "http://www. mega. nz..." and some people change mega to known allowed sites such as Google.

I just send it as mega:blablalink and tell people to replace mega: with mega.nz/
