Will my account be terminated or I will still be able to upload content in the future?

This was asked recently on /r/mega so am going to repost my answer:

If you get "3" copyright strikes against your account then it gets terminated and you lose everything on that account. As far as I know mega doesn't scan your cloud drive looking for stuff to delete, they remove it based on takedown requests submitted to them. depending on what the takedown submitter has requested they'll either disable the sharing link (keeping the files on your drive) or disable the sharing link and | Megalinks MegaDB and delete the file from your drive.

Even if your account gets terminated that is absolutely nothing stopping you from registering again with a new email account.

I've had both happen. Sometimes the share was just disabled, I could still access the account and upload / download files. I could even just re-share the files.

But I've also had the account disabled so I couldn't access anything.

I've no idea how they decide what they do though.

Three strikes and you're out. You lose everything on that account. But that's about the end of it, afaik there's no future consequences.
