See title. It'll just open itself seemingly at random. If I uninstall it, I still get popups from windows saying "choose a program to open this mega".
I've tried messing with the default apps for X file type, but 'mega' isn't one of them, so there's nothing to do there.
Any help is appreciated.
I use windows vista and MD gives errors all time. JDownloader seems ok for me.

Sounds like megadownloader's registered as a uri handler for "mega:". Looking for the file extension association is the right idea just the wrong place. If you're using firefox this 'uri' will bring up the list of registered handlers. "about:preferences#applications"
You should be able to just delete it from that list. Other browsers will have something similar I'm sure.

This happened to me everytime I opened a new tab in Firefox. To fix the problem I had to delete the Mega thumbnail that pops up everytime I open a new tab.

Open up a new tab, hover over the thumbnails that direct you towards a Mega URL and a small X will appear on the top right allowing you to delete it. You may have to delete some other URLs first before the Mega ones show up.
