These copies are drawn from the highest quality sources possible, but they are encoded with lower bitrates at 360p resolution to make them ideal for the small screen - phones, tablets, laptops, and monitors.

Why would anyone want 360P copies? Why Gibbsberg, why?

There are some 720 or 1080p copies available on this subreddit (I think in that mixed media collection) if anyone else wants higher resolution.

This is for people that want small size with watchable quality and I had that one 50GB mega account so I filled that with 360p tv-shows (The Simpsons, Futurama & King of the Hill) also my upload speed is really bad so it would take maybe weeks to upload one tv-show (50GB+)

I have Google Drive with unlimited space so I will upload my movies/tv-shows to them instead I dont want to hassle with mega accounts one account is enough

I get that. But i just cant wrap my head around people wamting 360p rips..

Phones are mostly 1080 now, some 720.. I dont know, maybe im just spoiled with my 50mb connection.

Anyway, its good the OP uploaded it, im just curious what the intended audience would want it for.

The quality is fine on my Galaxy A3 and I have only 8GB space so thats why I like these smaller files. On my pc I have better quality

i understand the idea but most phones now a days can get 1080p. if anything a 720p version would have been more appropriate..

You actually bother putting stuff like that on your phone?

You should really get Plex on a PC, NAS or small server then.

You can define your bandwidth and resolution to fit the device or connection you are on.. So if you have the media on your Plex server in 1080p, but only wants to stream it at 360p to your phone it automatically does that.

That way you only need one good copy of what you are watching no matter if you watch it on a phone, TV, Xbox, PS4, media player or anything...

I haven't put movies or anything on my phone or iPad fir years, it's all at home on my NAS running a Plex server that I can access from anywhere..

I can think of a few reasons why someone would want it directly on a hand held. A lot of people have wifi only devices and if you're on a 3-4 hour car ride with young children, having them watch their favorite shows on a tablet / smartphone would be beneficial. On top of that cellular signal isn't always the fastest everywhere even for streaming low quality. I keep a few movies on a micro SD card for this reason. If I'm ever stuck anywhere for any length of time with nothing to do its worth it imo.

Ah yes.. Countries with awful cell coverage.. That must suck..

I always forget about that since we have 4G coverage everywhere here and most cheap cell subscriptions have plenty or unlimited data and no hotspot rules for phones.

So you're never actually without internet connection here unless you really want to.

I don't really expect great coverage in 3000+ square mile national parks or camping areas that are remote. Everywhere else 4g lte is perfect

edit: not to mention, the US is what... the 3rd largest country in the world? lol The other ones ranked in our size probably have just as much dead spots or more.

4th, well.. 5th if you include Antarctica. But who's measuring.. :)

But yeah. There are surely disadvantages of living in such a large country. It must suck. And I didn't think of that since mobile coverage hasn't been an issue here for like a decade.

I can get 80-100 Mbps on 4G pretty much everywhere in the country. Some places even more.

I'm just glad I don't have to get my multimedia in 3, 4 or 5 different bitrates and resolutions depending on which device I'll be watching it on. Plex takes care of that for me. Plus it doesn't take up any space on my devices.

Love living in such a large country. Can travel for 100s of miles off grid and see some amazing things. Idk if I could live in a small country after being in murica

And we don't have amazing things here?

The difference is that I'll be able to call for help if needed, while in the wilderness.. :)

Plus I'll be able to steam from my Plex server.. :D

to get access to your Plex Server from anywhere (iphone for example), you have to pay a small recurring fee, right?

[-] bites | 2 points | Apr 29 2017 02:44:25

No, there are a few extra featured I pay the $5/mo (or $120 lifetime) for but you are able to stream to devices for free. Also pretty much all smart TVs or roku type device have a Plex app to stream in your network (or over the internet) to TVs.

Something that the premium gives you that is useful though is mobile sync. It will recompress the video for the selected bitrate and then download it to the phone/tablet so you can watch offline.

Nope, totally free..

Or well.. Your data plan covers the data usage ofcause, but the free Plex works fine for all that. There is a payed subscription for further features, but streaming from your server to any device is free.

Same problem here (though mine are only S04E11 and S06E03)

Gibbsberg: Any chance of a re-upload for those three episodes?

Thanks. I honestly don't care about pixels very much in animated shows. These are great to have on my hard drive
